Brightly Illuminate 2023

Brightly Software - User Conference

at the Raleigh Convention Center

Design Brief

Illluminate is a yearly user conference put on by Brightly Software to demo new technologies, connect with existing & potential users, and generate brand buzz.

Assets needed:

-Reception area capable of cycling 900+ guests in <1 hour

-schedule-at-a-glance for event visibility

-visitor Interaction to start conversations

-retail display for goodie bags & swag

Reception Area

Brightly expected over 900 guests to check in each morning of their conference. We were tasked with creating an eye-catching reception area for Brightly staff to greet each person, check them in, print their badge, and direct them to their free gift bags.

Using the existing 4’ reception counter from their trade show inventory, I created additional modular workstations to increase surface area and accommodate up to 6 individual greeters, printers, and iPads.

Brightly staff were blown away by the finish quality and ergonomics of their workstations - they told our team this was the nicest reception they’ve ever worked at.

Schedule Board

To create an eye-catching event schedule board, I reutilized Brightly’s existing 10’x10’ trade show booth that already had built-in lighting and a halo lit sign.

Paired with a custom area rug and Dan Flavin-inspired accent light rods, their repurposed 10’x10’ made for a stellar and budget-conscious moment in the Grand Lobby.

Interactive Moment

The interaction board featured a faux-neon logo on a markerboard background. Guests were invited to write or sketch with a simple punchy and on-brand headline,

“What’s your bright idea?”

Swag Bag Retail Display

Every year Brightly gives out a free reuseable bag filled with branded free stuff. This year’s haul included a vacuum-insulated tumbler, recycled plastic sketchbooks and pens, and finger rockets.

With such fun gifts, we wanted to make sure their bags were displayed in a beautiful way. Backed with a brushed aluminum reflector and surrounded with Dan Flavin-inspired fluorescent bulbs, this display really stood out even with all the natural light in Raleigh Convention Center’s Grand Lobby.

Event Planning - Raleigh Convention Center

I built out an architectural CAD mockup to render the custom assets we were pitching in the context of the Raleigh Convention Center.

Photorealistic renderings of their new assets sold our ideas and were sent back to the shop for production by our talented in-house builders.

A drone show and concert finished out the closing night with a wow factor.
